Well, we luckily missed Storm Doris by a day, and so we were treated to a dry and calm evening for February Critical Mass. Numbers weren’t huge, maybe due to the previous day’s weather and it being a little bit cold. We were spoilt for soundsystems though, as we had three along for the ride.
We set off down Lloyd Street as usual, heading out through Albert Square and towards Deansgate, down John Dalton Street. We look a left at Deansgate and carried on down until we reached Hardman Street, where we did a right and heading into Spinningfields.
After a quick lap of Spinningfields, we came out onto Bridge Street and carried on back towards Deansgate. We took a left onto Deansgate, past Manchester Cathedral and The Corn Exchange. Once across Corporation Street, we continued up Withy Grove and Shudehill and headed into the Northern Quarter.
We did a lap of the Northern Quarter, taking in Edge Street, Thomas Street, High Street and Church Street, with the usual cheers for people enjoying their Friday night. We then headed down Oldham Street to Piccadilly.
Passing through Piccadilly, we continued down Portland Street, Chepstow Street and Great Bridgewater Street, through the tunnel under Manchester Central. We carried on over Deansgate, onto Liverpool Street and headed for Castlefield Arena.
The ride ended in Castlefield Arena, where we joined
Manchester Fire/LED Hoop Jam with music and fire/LED hoop based entertainment.
