Metrolink Trafford Park Line

While work is already under way on the Metrolink Trafford Park Line (TPL), TfGM are still not particularly forthcoming when it comes to detailed plans for the route, despite ongoing requests.

Given that valid safety concerns had been raised against the Second City Crossing (2CC) and ignored, and given there’s already been a cycling related incident in the little time it’s been open. Many people are keen that TfGM take on board the needs of people on bikes and implement the new line without putting vulnerable road users at risk.

I’m also keen to see that the well-used public green space is reinstated when Promenade Park is displaced to make way for the line.

TfGM may not have provided much in the way of detail, but I’ve spotted that planning applications and associated documents have been published in the planning section of Trafford Council’s website. You can access these using the links below.

There’s plenty of detail in there if you’re willing to trawl through. Though probably of most interest is the design guide and its appendices in application 90165/CND/16. This includes artist impressions, design considerations and treatments, as well as detailed plans for the route.
