As you may have noticed, we’ve experienced cycling in The Netherlands a number of times, during what has pretty much become our yearly visit. In this post, I’ve highlighted some of the myths when it comes to cycling there, based on our experiences. Continue reading “Netherlands 16: 5 myths about cycling in The Netherlands”
This year marks the sixth time we’ve visited Duinrell. We spent the second week of our holiday here, after spending the first week in Vlissingen. Given the number of times we’ve been, it’s surprising that we’ve never been to Katwijk before. We decided to remedy this with a ride there on quite a sunny day. While staying in Vlissingen, we decided to take a trip on the bikes to Middelburg, about 8km to the north east. Middelburg is the capital city of Zeeland and dates back to around the 8th century. In the first week of this year’s Netherlands trip, we decided to stay in Vlissingen, Zeeland. This was our first time in Zeeland, we’ve mainly stayed around North and South Holland in previous trips. Continue reading “Netherlands 16: Around Vlissingen”

The second week of our recent trip to The Netherlands, we spent at Duinrell. This was actually the fifth time we’ve stayed at Duinrell in one form or another, in the last four year, so as you can probably guess, we’re big fans! We’ve also persuaded a number of friends to go there, who on the whole have loved it. Continue reading “Netherlands 15: Around Duinrell”
While we were staying in The Hague, we had friends staying at Duinrell for the week. Given it was a nice day, we decided to head on over to the beach, and as we were equipped with bikes, we headed to Wassenaarse Slag, which is about 4km from Duinrell and about 14km from where we were staying in The Hague. Continue reading “Netherlands 15: The route to Wassenaarse Slag”
This was our seventh trip to the Netherlands as a family, we’ve been there a number of times before kids too. Previously, we’ve stayed with friends in Amsterdam, camped in a number of the large European style campsites and Duinrell. This was our first time staying in The Hague, where we chose to spend the first five days of our trip. Continue reading “Netherlands 15: Around The Hague”
